Georgia Borrett-Lynch / Textiles Design with Business Studies BA(Hons)

This past year I have been exploring the link between Vorticism and the movement of the human form when playing sport. Translating this imagery into structural woven fabrics and incorporating wire floats, cords and cottons. Focusing on the execution of athletic and gymnastic performances, I included angular diagonals and shapes within the woven design process. I selected this subject because I was fascinated by both 1968 Mexico Olympics because it was the first country to largely concentrate on graphic design throughout the event. And the opening ceremony performance of 1980 Moscow Olympics, called the ‘human vase’, where the dancers would become a uniform moving object.
