Francesca Buckley / Moving Image BA(Hons)

My practice involves an opening video which gives three options for the viewer to choose from that leads them to Chat-room esc videos of individuals performing monologues. All three of the videos take a different ‘sexy stereotype’ and contrasts with the monologues which are intimate shameful confessions from the speakers. The piece has themes of loneliness and isolation and the idea that everyone needs company even if it is completely one-sided. This is reflected in popular culture from the advent of long form vlogging on YouTube and Instagram live streams which promise a conversational experience but simply delivers an almost narcissistic pursuit.
