Collectively bringing elements of an individual’s concept of safety; by creating my own version of ‘guided imagery’ normally used by the NHS to help calm anxiety, enhancing a serene and focused state of mind. This helps to embody what a ‘safe space’ means to different people. I have taken several photo series’ from the information gathered, ultimately, showcasing manifestations from their thoughts to create real life scenarios from their ‘safe spaces’. This will allow people’s perception to continue its journey further than we could have imagined.

“Are you comfortable? Good. Now stretch and take a few moments to relax. Close your eyes and notice any tensions in your body and just let each of them go….

Control your breathing throughout this exercise.

Now, imagine yourself as your most powerful inner self, you can be anywhere, where do you choose to be, what comes to mind? (ANSWER) Allow yourself to create a place of safety, that is yours. When you breathe out the fear… you breathe in the safety…

You wave your hands, magic. It swirls, creating your sanctuary. You realise, the world is at your hands, you can use your powers to bring together the joys of your world, what objects do you bring, what do you notice? (ANSWER) You take in the power and realise, this is mine.

When you think of your place, what time of day is it? Morning, afternoon, evening, night? (ANSWER) Really imagine your surroundings.

As you breathe, you see a path, is the path bending, long or short? (ANSWER)You follow it, there is a door, where does it lead? (ANSWER) Keep in mind the imagery. Breathe…

As you continue walking, you see something. What is it? (ANSWER)

(If an object): Describe

(If a place or a pathway): Do you follow?

Where does it take you? (ANSWER) Embrace the journey.

You see a window after, further ahead, you open the enormous window; a gust of air whips you away and you are, where?

Allow yourself to take in the scenery. Notice the ground. What is it like? (ANSWER) Have you used your magic to create something beautiful beneath your feet?

Breathe…

Use your senses. What do you see? Are their colours? What is the setting? (ANSWER)

Breathe…

What do you smell? Is it sweet, pungent, refreshing?

Breathe…

What do you hear?

Breathe…

As you breathe in slowly, you really visualise this place, but you soon realise it is time to go. You say goodbye to this place, you slowly retrace your steps, back through your journey, back to the window, back to the door, back on the path. Back in the swoosh of wind that is your magic. Swirling you around. You keep your eyes closed and suddenly, you are back.

Stay in a relaxed position, taking a moment to reawaken completely. After, you stretch, open your eyes and come back into the room, bringing with you the insights and discoveries you found on your journey.”
