‘The Aesthetics of a Pole Dancer’
My work centres on identity, with diversity, vulnerability and resilience as recurring themes. Through the photographs I aim to bring out the inner essence of the person to show their inner being. I consider ‘The Aesthetics of a Pole Dancer’ to be portraiture as well as expressing the concept of time and space. The main focus of the work is the expressivity of the subject and their movements, which communicate emotions ranging from aspiration to striving, to triumph at eventual success. The photographs are made in the studio on a white background, using continuous light, with the idea of showing the movements of a pole dancer without the pole. The images show acrobatic positions of the human body, displaying Noe’s athleticism and skill, while at the same time appearing to be effortless.
