Laila Sinclair / Fashion Design with Business Studies BA(Hons)

This collection is inspired from myself and my sister Rose’s past experiences working in a Japaneese owned factory as an electronic assembler.

The main idea of the collection is derived from theĀ  production of uniforms also known as Personal Protective Equipment. This PPE is worn to protect workers from hazardous equipment and poisonous chemicals around the company, at the same time protecting the products from contaminants such as dust.

Examples of PPE are very on trend at the moment as we are facing the Covi-19 Pandemic where in people are wearing facemasks, jumpsuits and gloves for protection.

The designers that have influenced my design and silhouettes are Issey Miyake’s 1969 Plantation collection mixed with his constructible clothing and Anne Marie Beretta’s exagerated clothing with huge pockets. Buttons and drawstrings are the key detailing of this collection ” Shimai: Sisters S/S 21.
