Origins explores textures, forms and colours inspired by the outdoors. Through my interpretations of rocks in their many different forms, I have developed a range of sculptural and functional objects for interiors where people can have a tangible experience with the natural world through handmade wooden objects which embody elements of nature.
In 2018/19 I set out on an adventure that took me to Ethiopia and India. Camping and living in caves, the year was spent mostly in wild places with few people and many rocks. These objects were made for people to feel at home with nature wherever they are and to encourage them to contemplate our innate closeness to the natural world. The materials I used reflect this ethos, and were all made out of offcuts from the furniture industry.
