‘Andean Spirit’
With a disposition as sunny and warm as its climate, the unique landscapes and culture of Peru are enchanting for many. This project was inspired by Peruvian folklore and heritage as well as the colours found in daily life in Peru, such as the famous Rainbow Mountain, Machu Picchu and traditional Peruvian food and drink. As I was born and adopted from Peru at an early age, this project has as much to do with capturing and expressing Peru through art as it does with my rediscovery of a lost part of myself when I returned there as an adult. The bright and strong colours seen throughout the country reflect the cheery and welcoming atmosphere I experienced there, connecting the emotional and physical aspects of the experience through a theme of bold acceptance and hopeful optimism.
