A project investigating Kongish – the mixture of Cantonese and English. This language is unique to bilingual Hong Kong people. The purpose of work is to introduce Kongish to a wider audience and pinpoint the fact that language is evolving. Most importantly, it hopes to unite Hong Kong people – reminding them how Kongish is part of their identity. Part one of the video shows an exhibition display following voice over explaining the work – like exhibition audios. The work presents a collage with a description defining the Kongish phrase. Whereas, part two shows a short interview exploring other perspectives on Kongish, understanding what others think of this language and how it may develop in the future.
