California Culture

Using primary images from my trip to Los Angeles last June, “California Culture” is an observational project that celebrates the variety of colour and pattern this culture has to offer. One of my favourite aspects of design is colour, choosing colour palettes and yarns to help create connections between my primary research and final outcomes. This love of colour instilled my passion to design this knitwear collection. My design work has also been inspired by the aesthetic of Jacquemus and Rachel Whiteread’s jelly-like cubic sculptures, using fuchsia/magenta type colours alongside neutrals. Using materials such silk, cotton/cashmere, linen and lycra, has helped to bring this Spring/Summer womenswear collection to life. These are a few of the samples I created during this project.
