I am a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is dominated by documenting the experiences of myself and others within my communities.
Through the use of traditional women’s craft processes and photography, I explore identity, focusing my practice on conceptual ideas relating to feminism, queerness and subversion of religious and social structures.
I employ the use of textiles and printmaking techniques as a tangible way to display photographic imagery. I insert myself physically into my work through self-portraiture, as well as through the use of hand making techniques such as sewing and embroidery. The deeply personal relationship I have with my work creates a universal empathetic sensibility to the vulnerability shown throughout my practice.
This work is an extension of my current central working phrase ‘Every Woman is a Deity in Her Own Right’, aiming to honour the everyday woman by presenting them as a holy or royal entity.
