My work explores the relationship between diet culture and social media advertising and its impact on young people, particularly focusing on teenage girls. I explore these themes through the use of installation and satire.

I wanted to take inspiration from my own experiences- growing up and suffering with an Eating Disorder, to highlight how damaging diet culture can be when you go through puberty and everywhere you look there is an influencer being paid to bombard you with a new product or idea to change a part of you that you didn’t realise needed changing.

I wanted audiences to feel involved in my piece, to walk into the bedroom where they watch the YouTube video and feel something when they realise this is a situation many girls all over the world will go through, trying to find a step by step guide to change themselves for the sake of ‘beauty.’
