‘The Fragmented Landscape’

‘The Fragmented Landscape’ has grown as a study of coastal fragments, as I strive to achieve an understanding of the elements within the landscape that have been affected by processes of erosion. I hope to create a sense of movement within and across each image, communicating how each surface is continuously changing into something new. This body of work presents how I am able to construct a landscape, by using the scanner and the fragments that the landscape offers me. The series creates a flow towards and away from abstraction in order to reflect this transformation of space – utilising both the positive and negative image in order to reflect this. This project represents my need to understand the world around me, using the scanner as my tool to reveal elements of my surroundings that I explore. The viewer’s engagement and encounter with the work is of great importance.
