Mi Ok – The Ama Women (Pearl Divers) inspired me with how strong and resilient they are, with a healthy lifestyle. Promoting a long life, which I want for this collection with a play on femininity. These women could possibly be the last generation to dive so it’s exciting to honour them with my collection.  The original Ama’s swam naked with just ropes around their waists. From looking at wetsuit lines and knots I’ve wrapped around a mannequin to get different shapes, I then looked into corsets as the lacing details could be used to tie in body fit designs. I’ve taken inspiration from Bond girls and designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Christopher Kane to add a luxury edge to the collection. The collection is ready to wear for Spring/Summer consisting of panelled garments all laced together at the seams for a sexy contoured look.
