Gabrielle Lopez / Fine Art Printmaking BA(Hons)

My interests surround the internal and external human body; the im/permanence and vulnerability in its structure and form. I often look to the permanence of bone in relation to the temporality of the flesh, in the the structure of the human spine. The vulnerability and strength of the spine is also mirrored in my use of images of flora. The beauty of flora is found and sought in their temporality, however within my work this temporal moment of beauty is fixed in time as an image. The use of plaster is to evoke the look of bone as well the difference in texture you can create. As a material it has slightly masculine and industrial image, but I find with my sculptures I am able to obtain delicacy in my forms. This clear opposite in material and work continues in my practise.
