Tango in the Night, is a sustainable, sensual, luxury womenswear collection. It has been thoughtfully constructed using excess fabric collected from industry, repurpose beads from lampshades and recycled plastic straws. The mood of the collection comes from a young 1970s Stevie Nicks from the band, Fleetwood Mac. I have designed for the modern day party girl groupie, who uses both Fleetwood Mac as the soundtrack to their life; while being heavily influenced by the iconic ‘baby groupies’, Sabel Starr and Lori Lightening of the 70s.The collection aims to capture both the movement and free-spirted nature of Stevie Nick’s mystical performances through hand beaded fringing, which glistens in the light as you move. Juxtaposing with contemporary cut-outs, draping and knotting. Overall, luxe velvets, metallic jacquards and detailed fringing, styled with customised cowboy boots and bandanas, encapsulate the femininity and attitude of the 1970s rock’n’roll era.
