Charlotte Guérard / Fine Art Painting BA(Hons)

The interplay of fragmented patterns, drawn shapes, sharp edges and diverse lines, creates a tension in my work which allows me to speak through the layers. Ambiguous compositions invite the viewers to reflect upon their perspective of time and space. I seek to create a narrative between what happens underneath the surface and how new marks reach outside of the frame. The paintings become archives of my presence in the process of making. A direct response to colour leads to instinctive and emotional actions made in the paintings. The variations of luminous tones and darker tints which I employ predict the shifts and challenges which occur directly in the process.
