Carina Rocha da Luz / Textiles Design with Business Studies BA(Hons)

Flourish is predominantly a digitally printed floral and geometric collection. Its designs are modern, flamboyant, vibrant and colourful. The concept idea and inspiration originated from the spring/summer 2020 catwalk collections which used flowers combined with other playful elements.

This project explores, investigates and develops the subject of florals using printed textile techniques. It reflects a development of many aspects of the design process including drawing, design development and CAD. Screen printing techniques such as discharge, devore and pigment were also adopted. Printed on a variety of fabrics, this womenswear collection shows a range of floral designs intended for both the High end and High street markets.

Having gained industry experience at design studios such as Tom Cody and Whiston & Wright, I could observe how integral florals are to the textiles industry. This has played an important role in choosing the theme of florals for this project.
