Calm Preece / Fine Art Sculpture BA(Hons)

As an artist I am particularly interested in creating work that invites audience participation, so the work becomes a partnership between my own creative contribution and audience participants experience.  When comparing the experience of living in a very rural area to the experience of re-locating to a city lifestyle I have become aware of the different relationships people have with each other through their body language and attitudes. My goal in my artwork is to create a space that is peaceful, quiet, and soft in colour that encourages feelings of comfort and safety. I am inspired by the human desire to feel safe  and be in a space where we feel relaxed. I use pastel colours, projection and soft movements within my work as the key elements of my research to achieve this.
