Azra Kaliniewicz / Fashion Communication with Business Studies BA(Hons)

Throughout the Fashion Communication with Business Studies course, I have experimented with multiple different specialisms and found my person brand identity. I practice mostly in photography and digital illustration, heavily influenced by self-portrait artists and fashion imagers such as Juno Calypso, Olivier Kugler and Tim Walker. The themes running through my body of work are focused mostly around identity, the self and representation of genders. In my latest series work for my FMP I created 13 playing cards (one set of suit) with matching reverse sides, displaying a QR code linking to a temporary personal website- where extra information about the cards and some moving images can be viewed. The cards were heavily influenced by the male gaze and redefined the perception of women. The cards suits were not included, as to represent the sterotypes and restrictions of societal reality not being functional or present in the surreal world of my playing cards.
